E3 2014: More Highlights from Electronic Entertainment Expo

Virtual reality is an important topic at this year's E3. Oculus VR and Sony have each set up a booth at E3 where people can use the Oculus Rift or Sony Morpheus. The devices will compete against one another, though Sony and Oculus are both trying to get people interested in virtual reality.

Day one of the E3 Expo was full of big announcements, and the second day of the event offered more surprises from companies large and small. Despite leaks leading up to the event, entirely new games were announced during day two of the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles. Additional details were also released to follow up on day one announcements.

Batman: Arkham Knight

The third and final installment to the very successful Arkham franchise was teased during E3 by developer Rocksteady. Batman: Arkham Knight will allow players to travel through all of Gotham. While on their travels, players can use the Batmobile, drones, and tanks for transportation. A new villain, the Scarecrow, will be at the center of the game.

Evolve

Turtle Beach Studios and 2K are already headed toward success with their new shooter, Evolve. The game will let four players fight against one very large monster that evolves throughout the game. Evolve will launch on October 21 on the Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

Phil Spencer's View On Console Wars

Microsoft's Xbox head Phil Spencer told Gamespot during an E3 interview that focusing on Sony and Nintendo is not a priority. Spencer said that from his point of view, great games are what matter, not the console. Even though Spencer may feel that way, Microsoft is competing directly with Sony's PS4.

More Uncharted 4 Details

Continuing on from day one of E3, more details have emerged regarding Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. The game, which has already received massive amounts of attention because of its life-like graphics, may be the last game in the franchise. Nolan North, the voice actor for Uncharted's Nathan Drake, told IGN that he feels this game will be the last that Naughty Dog creates for the Uncharted series.

Metal Gear Solid V

Konami set up a live demo for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain to show just how impressive its next-generation graphics are. Utilizing the extra power of the PS4, the demo ran at 1080p and 60 frames per second. The gameplay is entirely open-world, and that aspect of the game has been well received.

Alien: Isolation

Harkening back to the original Ridley Scott horror film, Alien: Isolation has been called the scariest game at E3. Isolation is, in many ways, the game version of the film, and that is a good thing. The game will launch on October 7 for most platforms.

Rainbow Six: Siege

Incorporating realistic shooters is becoming more possible, and Rainbow Six: Siege proves that. The game has been a main attraction since the start of E3 because the gameplay is greatly improved over previous Rainbow Six titles. Players are able to shoot through walls and furniture and the outcomes are realistic. For example, bullet holes do not disappear and walls can fall down after being destroyed.

Just Dance Now

Unisoft says that there are 100 million Just Dance players, and it hopes to grow that number with Just Dance Now. The game features a new track list and interactive features not available in previous titles.

FIFA 15

Because Thursday is the first day of World Cup soccer, news from EA about its FIFA series was quite fitting. EA has announced FIFA 15, which will be released this coming September.

Oculus vs. Sony

Virtual reality is an important topic at this year's E3. Oculus VR and Sony have each set up a booth where people can use the Oculus Rift or Sony Morpheus. The devices will compete against one another, though Sony and Oculus are both trying to get people interested in virtual reality.
