23 Games To Be Ready for Xbox One Launch Day

Even though virtually all specs and features for Microsoft's Xbox One have been announced, gamers still do not know what to expect with the Xbox One when it launches in November. Microsoft has changed its tune multiple times in regard to specific core features of the Xbox One such as digital rights management (DRM) and online connectivity requirements.

Microsoft has released a full list of the games that will be launching with the Xbox One when it comes out later this year. A list of 50 games for Xbox One was provided, but just 23 will be available on the day the new entertainment console hits the shelves.

Major games on the launch day list include Assassins Creed 4; Call of Duty: Ghosts; and FIFA 14. There are two newly announced games that also made the list: Peggie 2, which will be an Xbox exclusive, and Fighter Within, which is a fighter game that uses the Xbox Kinect gestural motion controller.

The Games

Microsoft has partnered with game maker Electronic Arts in a significant way to provide FIFA 14 to European customers for free, as well as to provide a FIFA 14 bundle that will be available in more areas. Many of the games announced are part of series such as Call of Duty, Madden, or FIFA, but there are some cool Xbox exclusives included, which should provide an incentive to buy the Xbox One rather than Sony's PlayStation 4.

With the Kinect becoming an important part of the Xbox One, Microsoft and many developers are doubling down to create games that will work with it. Games like Zumba Fitness and Fighter Within will provide a gaming experience similar to the Wii but with better graphics and more intense titles.

Launch Day Expectations

Even though virtually all specs and features have been announced, gamers still do not know what to expect with the Xbox One when it launches in November. Microsoft has changed its tune multiple times in regard to specific core features of the console such as digital rights management (DRM) and online connectivity requirements.

Now that enough gamers have complained about Microsoft stating that the One would require a Kinect, Microsoft is no longer going down that route. Instead, the Xbox One should work without the Kinect even being plugged in according to the latest statements from the company.

By reversing the Xbox One DRM policy, Microsoft may end up taking over the next-gen console market in a significant way. The advances in the Xbox ecosystem seem to be more significant than those present on the PS4, and for people that like the Kinect, its functionality has increased 10-fold.

Users who had a chance to use the systems at conventions reported that the Xbox One generally felt better than the PS4, partly due to some of its changes. The exclusives present on the Xbox have always provided Microsoft with an advantage. But some observers say Microsoft's plan to bundle games like FIFA with the console suggests the company is worried.

Despite the changes in DRM policies and the switch in Kinect requirements, some gamers are angry that Microsoft was ever going to try and implement those types of policies. This anger could result in lost sales for Microsoft, with gamers enjoying the thought of using the PS4 which has been touted as far more open than the Xbox One.
