K&L Wine Merchants Launches New Mobile Commerce Site with Endeca, Unbound Commerce

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – October 13, 2009 – Endeca Technologies, Inc., a search applications company, today announced the launch of K&L Wine Merchants' new mobile site (m.KLWines.com), which is powered by Endeca. Leveraging Endeca's search and merchandizing technology, customers now have access to K&L Wine Merchants' vast product catalog, including wine reviews, tasting notes and wine recommendations using any popular smartphone.

The mobile site was developed using Unbound Commerce's new Mobile Presence (TM) software product, which Unbound Commerce integrated with the open application-programming interfaces (APIs) of the Endeca Information Access Platform. K&L Wine exemplifies how Endeca clients are extending their reach to serve customers anytime and anywhere via the mobile Web, while delivering the content and user experience that customers have grown to expect online.

"Because we already have Endeca deployed, we were able to leverage our assets and go live with our mobile site in just couple of weeks, without any disruption to our main Web site," said Brian Zucker, vice president of K&L Wine Merchants. "By going mobile, we can greatly increase the number of touches we have with our customers – anytime and anywhere they have the need or desire."

"By this coming holiday season, 70 million people in the U.S. will regularly use the mobile Web, according to eMarketer forecasts, and that represents huge growth potential for online retailers," said Keith Lietzke, vice president, marketing and business development for Unbound Commerce.

"This launch by K&L Wines is part of a fast-growing trend by retailers to invest in the mobile experience they are delivering to their customers," commented John Andrews, vice president, solutions marketing & product management at Endeca.
