Aiming to boost its
offerings, business application
services provider Infor has agreed to acquire the Saleslogix cloud-based CRM application from Swiftpage.
Saleslogix CRM, which will become Infor CRM, will add sales and service functionality to the Infor CloudSuite, its industry-specific software that's available on Amazon Web Services. Swiftpage expects the transaction to close in the coming weeks. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
For its part, Swiftpage, which acquired CRM-pioneer Act and Saleslogix from Sage in March 2013, is selling the app so it can focus on Act, a CRM app that fits better with the company's core mission -- to help micro and small businesses grow, according to H. John Oechsle, president and CEO of Swiftpage.

Infor plans upgrades to Saleslogix, including making it more scalable, enhancing its user interface and adding industry-specific functionality. More than 1,700 organizations around the world use Saleslogix CRM for sales management, marketing, customer service and support, and reporting. Infor and Saleslogix have more than 300 mutual customers, according to company officials.
"CRM systems have typically tracked a small subset of customer, marketing, and sales data," said Charles Phillips, CEO of Infor. "Infor's industry applications have a vast repository of information on a customer's overall interactions derived from deep industry processes we automate and we'll build in context analytics that deliver unique customer insight."
With the acquisition of Saleslogix, Phillips said Infor can now deliver an end-to-end demand-to-supply chain by integrating marketing and sales processes with supply chain planning, sales and operations planning, and production scheduling in real time. Infor CRM will enable clients to access relevant ERP data to help win customers, manage future sales opportunities, and deliver better customer service in one environment, according to Infor. Initially, the company plans to extend Saleslogix to the automotive, healthcare, public sector and manufacturing verticals.
In its "Magic Quadrant for Sales Force Automation" research report issued last August, said Saleslogix has capabilities to extend both smartphone and tablet devices. It also has good extensibility and flexibility.
However, the research firm said while the Saleslogix offering is broadened with e-mail marketing functionality, the software is still focused on core opportunity management and lacks certain capabilities such as sales configuration, pricing management, incentive compensation or performance management that generally round out a sales force automation offering.

Sold for the 2nd time in 18 months! Sage passed it on in preference of Sage CRM and now Swiftpage is passing it on in favour of ACT. These transitions are hard for staff and customers in the best of times, but twice in 18 months will leave many reeling and losing confidence, and as has been reported, Infor also has a track record of being where products go to die. Saleslogix also does not compare well in independent CRM reports such as G2 Crowd.
