TestPlant introduces new eggPlant v12 -- Leading GUI test automation tool now benefits from an entirely new intuitive user interface plus a host of flexibility features enabling it to be used anywhere, and is the first test automation tool capable of fully controlling Android devices without rooting

STAR WEST, Anaheim, CA and Boulder, CO, October 3, 2012 -- TestPlant has announced new eggPlant, version 12 of its leading GUI test automation tool that tests anything from mobile Relevant Products/Services to desktop to cloud Relevant Products/Services, and from Linux to HTML5.

New eggPlant version 12 delivers a more frictionless automation experience with an entirely new intuitive user interface, introducing a host Relevant Products/Services of flexibility features that mean eggPlant really can be used anywhere. It also becomes the first test automation tool capable of fully controlling Android devices without rooting.

eggPlant GUI test automation drives and analyzes software Relevant Products/Services exactly as a real user does - by looking at the screen. eggPlant uses patented image recognition technology to understand the layout of the interface, enabling test scripts to be created simply by describing what a user would do. eggPlant will test anything from mobile to desktop to cloud, and from Linux to HTML5. It is relied upon by more than 500 organizations across mobile, finance, defense, e-commerce, and media and gaming enterprises. It is also fully integrated with leading application lifecycle management Relevant Products/Services (ALM) tools including HP Relevant Products/Services Quality Center and IBM Rational Quality Manager.

New eggPlant version 12 delivers:

• An enhanced intuitive user interface
• Full Android control without rooting
• Global language optical character recognition (OCR) support
• Script reusability
• Windows 8 readiness
• Simplified licensing

George Mackintosh, chief executive of TestPlant said: "One of the most important aspects of software development is the continued ability to innovate and improve. At TestPlant, this is crucial to our roadmap and vision, allowing us to maintain our market-leading position and ensure that our customers have access to the most comprehensive testing solution possible for testing applications across a dizzying array of devices, operating systems and browsers."

All existing eggPlant customers will be able to upgrade to the newest version within their existing contract. New eggPlant version 12 will be available in late October 2012.

Antony Edwards, chief technology officer concluded: "Software testing is the critical line of defense for ensuring that companies are delivering fantastic products that will delight their users. Even the greatest designs immediately frustrate users if they are not implemented to a high standard of quality. But while users' expectations are constantly increasing, software testers face an exponential explosion in the number of product variants they must verify. This means that where test automation was once a benefit, it is now essential. New eggPlant version 12 equips testers with a simple, flexible tool that lets them test all variants easily. Any device Relevant Products/Services from mobile to desktop to cloud; any OS from Windows to Android to iOS; any technology from HTML5 to Flash to Java. From mobile banking to e-commerce to automotive, users (and testers) need a consistent experience in a world of inconsistent technologies." (continued...)
