India Tablet Could Cost $35 or Less Rackspace and NASA Open Up Cloud Mozilla Releases First Firefox 4 Beta Pre-Alpha MeeGo Eyes Apple, Android Dell Reportedly Looking at Chrome OS Rivals Take Market Value from Nokia A tablet computer for $35. That's the estimated retail price of a prototype basic touchscreen tablet developed by the government of India. It uses the open-source Linux operating system. Hosting provider Rackspace is opening the software code for its cloud infrastructure. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration will add its Nebula cloud technology to OpenStack. Mozilla has launched an early beta of the Firefox 4 browser and plans to release further betas for testing every two to three weeks for feedback to improve the development process. Nokia is betting heavily on the MeeGo operating system, which was developed for smartphones, tablet devices, and other touch-enabled environments. The pre-alpha code is now available. Score one for Google Chrome, at least potentially. Dell is reportedly in talks with Google about using the forthcoming Chrome operating system on its laptops. The Chrome OS is due this year.
