Speed, stability, compatibility: These are the headline features for which Windows 7 has been lauded. But Microsoft has also stuffed Windows 7 full of nifty productivity-enhancing aspects few know about.
After a light start to the year, Microsoft is getting ready to dump a heavy load on the shoulders of IT administrators. On Patch Tuesday next week, Microsoft will release 13 patches.
It's official -- and ahead of schedule. The Symbian mobile operating system is now completely open source, and the Symbian Foundation has released Symbian 3, the latest version of the platform.
Some owners of Windows 7 machines are complaining that the newest Microsoft operating system may be causing battery problems. Microsoft said the problem appears to be related to system firmware.
China tried to assure mobile phone companies using Google's Android OS that they won't be hurt by a dispute over web censorship, saying the technology will be allowed if it complies with regulations.
Steve Balmer told Microsoft employees that Bill Veghte, who was senior VP for the Windows division, will be leaving at the end of January. Veghte played a key role in the launch of Windows 7.
