New Relic Unveils Real-Time Node.js Performance Analytics
New Relic, a
-based software analytics company that helps businesses determine what is going on with their apps through performance
, Thursday introduced real-time analytics for applications written in Node.js.
New Relic is all about Software-as-a-Service application performance monitoring, which for businesses of all types can be a game-changer in making the right decisions to strengthen brand name and experience. The announcement came at the company's first tech meet, the FutureStack13 conference, a two-day event Thursday and Friday in San Francisco.
Support Is a 'Milestone'
Node.js is no stranger to developers of retail e-commerce, consumer Internet, online gaming, social media and apps.
The framework is recognized for its ability to support large volumes of asynchronous events. Some popular Node.js uses include chat applications that run across distributed devices; data streaming; and game-playing with tens of thousands of concurrent users.
"Building an advanced management solution for an asynchronous framework was challenging, but now it's an industry milestone," said Lew Cirne, New Relic CEO.
He said the solution can help its customers be more data-driven and make better decisions as they build their software. New Relic monitors apps written in Java, .NET, Ruby, PHP, Python, iOS, Android, and now Node.js.
Aggressive on Analytics
The announcement was just one of several Thursday coming out of the FutureStack13 conference.
New Relic also announced a new version of New Relic for Mobile Apps that goes deep into iOS or Android code. The new version for Android and iOS apps takes a more extensive look, and the data gathered includes page load times, memory and network requests.
The company makes a point about the value of the very term software analytics, not to be confused with business intelligence and Web analytics. Rather, software analytics is emphasized as a category that addresses the need for agile, iterative, ad hoc analytics about applications.
New Relic's core message being delivered across varied announcements at the conference is that the company provides insight into key technical and business metrics to make better decisions.
When the conference winds down Friday, the most meaningful takeaway may reside in the company's mission to help out in the brave new world of software analytics for answers the businesses need; the state of a business may actually be found within the application transactions and data, Cirne said.
"There is something very powerful about being able to ask your applications questions and get answers back immediately," he added. "It can have a measurable, meaningful impact on your business."
