Cisco Still Has It
Ranking at number 42, Cisco is still a favorite among tech companies to work for. Cisco lets 95 percent of its workers tap into flexible work options. One employee told Fortune, "The fact that I am given so much flexibility makes me want to go above and beyond."
The tech behemoth is based in San Jose, California and employs a whopping 35,336 in the U.S. plus another 29,434 around the world.
Hitachi Data Systems
Fortune reports that when you work at Hitachi Data Systems, you get quarterly bonuses based on both individual and corporate performance that can range from one-third to two-thirds of base salary.
The company is headquartered in Santa Clara, California, with 2,216 employees in the U.S. plus 2,925 outside the U.S. This is the second consecutive year HDS has been named on Fortune's list, moving up to number 63 from number 86 last year.
Intel Still Influential
Despite dropping from 46 to 68 on the list, Intel employees are still enviable. According to Fortune, the chipmaker offers $50,000 for tuition reimbursement, on-site medical care, and an eight-week paid sabbatical every seven years, taken last year by 4,067 employees.
Based with numerous other tech titans in Santa Clara, California, Intel employs a massive workforce of 48,350 in the U.S. and another 44,516 more worldwide.
Microsoft Still Mighty
Ranking 75th on the list, software leader and innovator Microsoft, based in Redmond, Washington, is still one of the most popular technology employers. Fortune reports the company's campus outside Seattle has a new health center with primary care, a pharmacy, a chiropractic clinic, lab tests, and wellness coaching.
The company employs the largest workforce on our list, with 55,455 in the U.S. plus 38,835 more around the world.
Last but not least on our compilation of best tech companies to work for, based on the Fortune rankings, is TEKsystems, with 3,165 employees in the U.S. plus 306 outside the U.S.
Based in Hanover, Maryland, TEKsystems ranks 79th on Fortune's list, with an interesting corporate culture. The magazine says, "Culture at the IT staffer revolves around 'open-book relationships'; workers are expected to share 'almost everything' about their personal and professional lives."
To compile the full list of "100 Best Companies To Work For," Fortune partnered with the Great Place to Work Institute, conducting what they describe as "the most extensive employee survey in corporate America." For this year's list, 259 firms participated in the survey, with more than 277,000 employees at those companies responding. (continued...)
